South Glos Consortium was first established in November 2008. The consortium started life as a loose association made up of all the 27 practices in South Gloucestershire. The practices chose to work together in this way under the leadership of elected local GP and Practice Management colleagues. 

Our mission is to work with the PCT and the local hospital trusts to commission the best possible services for patients    

Our aim is to ensure that patients receive excellent,timely clinical care in the best possible place for the particular  service. We are trying to make sure that our services are locally accessible,provide value for money and patient centred,as well as being clinically excellent.

South Glos Consortium Ltd has been a limited company since 1st April 2009.

In addition in our Memorandum of Association we have stated that we will work to:  

1. encourage, promote, organise and participate in co-operative working practices and ventures among general medical practitioners and other  professionals working in the South Gloucestershire PCT for the benefit of and to enhance the care of patients, ensuring the maximum benefit for the largest number of patients;
2. to engage in practice based commissioning of services for patients and clients in the Area which offer the best value for money, and to collaborate with South Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust for that purpose;
3. to seek opportunities to design pathways of care that maximise enhanced primary healthcare services in the Area
4. to reduce health inequalities in the local population
